The eclectic list of David Bowie’s favorite songs includes titles from Miles Davis, Roxy Music, the Beatles, Little Richard and Ronnie Spector.
THE David Bowie Center will open its doors to V & A East Storehouse has Londonoffering the public access to a huge archive of 90,000 objects retracing the singer’s life and career. Among the most intriguing artifacts is a document entitled ” Memo for radio: List of favorite songs Where Bowie lists her 15 favorite songs.
The list contains unworthy choices such as Roxy Music (” Mother of Pearl ”),, Sonic Youth “” Tom Violence “And Jeff Beck “” Beck’s Bolero “. There are also several titles that Bowie resumed during his long career: ” Across the universe »Beatles (on Young Americans1975), Try Some, buy some by Ronnie Spector (on Reality2003), and I TOOK A TIP ON A GEMINI SPACESHIP by The Legendary Stardust Cowboy (on Heathen2002).
There are also some rarities of the 1950s which he had undoubtedly heard a child: “ Right now right now »D ‘Alan Freed and His Rock ‘N’ Roll BandAnd ” True fine mama ” of Little Richard. The list also touches jazz, with ” Ecclusiastics ” of Charles Mingus And ” Some day my prince will come ” of Miles Davis .
Finally, there is an eclectic mixture of titles from different eras: ” Sho Know a lot about Love » Hollywood Argyles” Epsilon in Malaysian Pale ” of Edgar Froese And ” Fantasia on theme by Thomas Tallis »by Ralph Vaughan Williams.
When the public has access to the David Bowie Center, it is likely that many other fascinating documents of this type will be created. This week also releases the 12 CD box David Bowie 6. I Can’t Give Everthing Away (2002 to 2016)which traces the last 14 years of Bowie’s career, with many unpublished and recordings of his latest concerts in 2005 and 2006.
