Bandcamp has banned all music generated using artificial intelligence

Music news

The platform seeks to take care of real musicians.

bandcamp announced on Tuesday, January 13, new and quite strict rules against music generated by artificial intelligence (AI). The goal? Keeping your community a “vibrant space of real people creating amazing music.”

The policy cuts to the chase: zero music or audio created, either in part or entirely, by AI and a ban on AI to copy or imitate the style or identity of other artists.

Using AI to “debug and train” uploaded music is also not allowed. Besides, bandcamp It encourages you to report if you see something strange and reserves the right to remove the content.

The move has been very well received in the music community, which celebrates having a place different from other platforms.

Unlike Spotify and Apple Musicthe decision of bandcamp It is a clear and positive step, which many see as an “investment in real musicians from around the world” and which highlights their key role in independent music.
