Chappell Roan at the Resonator Awards: 'The only thing that matters is the community'

Chappell Roan accepted the Harmonizer Award from Nancy Wilson at the ceremony in Los Angeles on Tuesday evening.

Chappell Roan delivered a heartfelt community acceptance speech last night at the 2026 Resonator Awards. The second edition of the ceremony, held at Chaplin Studios in Los Angeles, honored the pop singer with the Harmonizer Award.

Roan accepted the honor from Heart's Nancy Wilson and took the opportunity to share a spontaneous reflection. “ I cut my speech down to a quarter of its length “, noted Roan before thanking Wilson.

I feel very uncomfortable when people tell me I'm a good person “, she said. “ I think it has to do with some sort of Christian guilt or something. But it's cool when people you really admire think you're a good person or doing good things. »

Roan continued: “ But I only know what to do because I see other people in my life doing good things and listening to trans people who need representation and money for healthcare and rent. I kind of think it's just the duty of an artist — and anyone who has money — to give it away. I don't really know what else is in harmony other than giving. »

After thanking the organization for this recognition, she acknowledged: “ I don't really know what's going to happen to women, gays, people of color, or anyone else. But I think the only thing that matters is community, kindness and giving what you have. »

Nancy Wilson's tribute

On the ceremony's red carpet, Wilson explained why she was so thrilled to present Roan with this award. “ With people like Chappell Roan, this really comes at a crucial time in the culture, where it's needed more than ever these days “Wilson said. “ All the inclusiveness of the ethical force that Chappell has… It's just something to be there for. »

Last year, Roan invited Wilson on stage in New York to cover Heart's song, ” Barracuda “. “ I cover Barracuda at most of my shows and had the absolute honor of having @nancywilson from @heartofficial play it with us “, Roan wrote on Instagram after the show. “ So amazing and I'm still in shock hahaha, three NYC shows done, one to go. This job is so awesome and I'm so grateful, wow. »

Roan is nominated for two Grammys this year. The singer is up for Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance for her song “ The Subway “.
