Obsession is the song with which Samurai Jay is competing for the first time at the 76th edition of the Sanremo Festival 2026, accompanied by the official video clip.
THE VIDEO
The video clip – directed by Fabrizio Conte, produced by Borotalco.tv and written by Federico Cirillo and Fabrizio Conte – was created with the participation of Belén Rodriguez and with special guests Brunori Sas, 22simba, Joshua, Naiara, Rkomi, Sayf and Young Hash.
The video clip draws inspiration from the imagery of the film From Dusk Till Dawn by Robert Rodriguez to build a suspended narrative space, a place in which attraction and danger coexist and in which the protagonist's perception progressively detaches itself from the surrounding reality.
In the video clip, the closeness between Samurai Jay and Belén Rodríguez functions as a conscious citation of an iconic moment from the film, but above all as a narrative gesture: it represents the culmination in which the protagonist's gaze fixes and isolates himself from the world, marking the definitive entry into the dimension of obsession. Reality explodes around them, first in a physical clash and then in collective violence, but for the two everything dissolves into a distant noise that becomes background music.
Their connection remains suspended and impervious to chaos, transforming the surrounding space into a simple scenario and making obsession an experience that surpasses time, danger and reality.
The idea started almost as a joke. I got excited right away. In recent years I have really gotten closer to cinematographic culture, previously it was an area I rarely frequented. Now I'm catching up on everything, I watch films almost compulsively, I study them, I focus on the details.
I started to delve seriously into it, to get a sort of visual education. It's not just entertainment: it's language, it's color construction, it's rhythm.
I'm interested in understanding how a film manages to create a world.
Definitely Fight Club. For the way it works on tones, on dirty but coherent aesthetics.
And then a whole series of films that play with photography and visual identity. I'm fascinated by the way color becomes narration.
The song is written and composed by Samurai Jay, Luca Stocco and Vittorio Coppola, co-written by Salvatore Sellitti and produced by Vito Salamanca and Katoo. Obsession exaggerates the concept of motivation with which we carry forward the passions we have. The central theme of the song is the relationship with music, experienced by Samurai Jay as a positive obsession that is at the center of his life as a songwriter and musician.
Samurai Jay, singer-songwriter and musician, performed this evening for the first time on the stage of the Ariston Theatre, standing out for his experimental sound full of contaminations, which blends rap and electronic and urban sounds, enriched by Latin influences.
On Friday 27 February, during the evening dedicated to covers, the artist will perform on the stage of the Ariston Theater with the song Baila morena by the singer-songwriter Zucchero and will be accompanied by the TV presenter, showgirl, actress and singer Belén Rodríguez and by the composer, trumpeter, singer and record producer Roy Paci.
