Review: ERMAL META – “Vital Functions”

Reviews

“Funzioni Vitali” is released today, Ermal Meta's new album competing at the Sanremo Festival, amidst nostalgia and glimpses of an uncertain future.

Time is a deception/For me who am only a man Ermal Meta sang with Camilla's Fame and time is precisely the dimension in which his new album unfolds: Vital Functionsanticipated by the single DeLorean And Little star (song competing at the Sanremo Festival).

Photographs of a time gone by, with the sweet nostalgia that memories can taste like. Musical worlds that intersect like the eighties flavor of Levi's 501 which fit in with more classic atmospheres, adolescence at school. They'll come and ask you about methe melancholy that appears for a goodbye that cannot be said, with airy openings that somehow fit with Today One Year Ago.

It stands out among all At least youa sincere song, without too many turns of phrase, in which the voice of Ermal it is tamed without pushing on the accelerator, but it sticks to the skin due to the truth with which it is sung. The same goes for Fortune Bracelet a tale of threads that fray over time.

Vital functions it is a look at the past, with dreamlike awareness of a path traced by fragility, goodbyes that cannot be said, dreams reread with a different maturity, the time that has inevitably passed and the cracks that you have to deal with sooner or later.

There is also room for a disenchanted look at the distortions of the present Stella Stellina the eyes of a little girl who could be the daughter of all and possible tragic futures of Drones (that arrive and darken the sky/happy children, who shout in chorus, they really brought them to us/Gifts that fall in light flight…let's go and see if it's true)

The pen of Ermal it flows with the ability to narrate those moments of reckoning with one's past, typical of a generation that still knows how to look back to bring with it the best of that time that was, drawing vivid pictures of it. Vital Functions a new starting point with questions that we don't often know how to answer.
