Kacey Musgraves announces her new album Middle of Nowhere, due May 1, with the single “Dry Spell” and collaborations with Willie Nelson, Miranda Lambert and Billy Strings
A few days after sowing clues on social networks, Kacey Musgraves is officially back — more raw and frontal than ever.
The singer unveiled the single “Dry Spell”a country confession as funny as it is universal about the lack of sex. “It's been a real long 335 days / And the last time, it wasn't good anyway”she sings. “I'm so lonely / Lonely with a capital 'H,' if you know what I mean / I've been sitting on the washing machine. » The clip, directed by Musgraves and Hannah Lux Davis, shows her wandering solitary through the aisles of a supermarket.
The track is the first taste of Middle of NowhereMusgraves' sixth studio album, due May 1st from Lost Highway Records. The 13-track tracklist includes collaborations with Willie Nelson, Miranda Lambert, Billy Strings and Gregory Alan Isakov.
“Being alone, for the first time, seemed incredible to me”
And to add: “I ended up feeling completely at home in this 'middle of nowhere', both literally and figuratively. I had a lot of time for creative wandering, to look at myself differently: horses, humor, writing with my first collaborators, and my simple and inspired life between Texas, Tennessee and Mexico. »
Musgraves produced Middle of Nowhere with his long-time accomplices Daniel Tashian and Ian Fitchuk. The album's title comes from a sign spotted in his hometown of Golden, Texas — “Somewhere in the Middle of Nowhere” — a town of less than 300 inhabitants.
