The single is part of Tovar noise, album that pays tribute to Rigo Tovar.

Mexican Institute of Sound and Meridian Brothers have released a new trailer for Tovar Noisea collaborative album that brings together the best of tropical psychedelia. This album material will be released on May 22 and its most recent single, “Cumbia of the students”adds to “Cumbia Fantasy” as part of the songs that mark the sonic direction of this album.

The song was composed by Camilo Lara (Mexican Institute of Sound) and Eblis Alvarez (Meridian Brothers), who present a proposal with ironic and critical overtones. Through it, they question whether current teaching systems really provide the necessary knowledge or if, on the contrary, they have become structures that move away from critical thinking.

The album will bring together 10 songs, of which two have already been released. Tovar Noise It was built from the Mexican tropical music of the late 1970s and early 1980s; Furthermore, it works as a tribute to Rigo Tovarwho revolutionized cumbia by incorporating synthesizers and an attitude of rockstar within the genre.

The album was recorded in just one week in the studio of Laurawhich allows us to capture the natural chemistry between both projects. In addition to the release, the duo already has plans to present this material live in Mexico City on August 7 at The Maraka. With this premiere, both artists remember that the genre was born as a tool to strengthen cultural identity.
