Foo Fighters release angry single “Of All People,” a reflection on mortality
The Foo Fighters have just released a new single, “Of All People”. This angry track is the fourth extract from their twelfth album, Your Favorite Toyexpected on April 24.
On this aggressive rock track, frontman Dave Grohl reflects on the injustice of life. “Of all people, you survived / When no one else could stay alive”he sings. “You know you should be dead / But you're alive instead. »
Last month, Grohl told Guardian that he had written “Of All People” “after coming across a dealer from the 90s who was hooking everyone up to heroin”.
The Foo Fighters announced Your Favorite Toy in February by unveiling the album's title track. “‘Your Favorite Toy’ was really the key that unlocked the tone and energetic direction of the new album”Grohl said. “We stumbled upon it after experimenting with different sounds and dynamics for over a year, and the day the song took shape, I knew we had to go in this direction. It was the fuse that ignited the powder keg of songs that we ended up recording. It sounds new. »
The band recorded the album, which includes the previously released single “Asking for a Friend”, at home with co-producer Oliver Roman. This is the band's first recording since the arrival of new drummer Ilan Rubin.
