“American Dream”, the new release from Alabama Shakes

Music news

A sonorous and lyrical fusion.

Alabama Shakes has marked its long-awaited return with the release of “American Dream”a powerful and evocative new single that serves as the first preview of what will be their third studio album. This release is significant as it follows the acclaimed Sound & Color 2015, and marks a new stage for the band under the label Island Records.

The song, with a remarkably slow and melancholic rhythm, is based on a powerful bass line that anchors the instrumentation. On this rhythmic foundation, subtle and ethereal guitar riffs weave an atmosphere that sets the stage for Brittany Howard's unmistakable voice. The production of the single suggests a maturity in the band's sound, maintaining the soul-rock essence that characterizes them, but with a more marked introspection.
