“XXXXX” is the title of Arca's new album out on July 31st via XL Recordings.

Five years after *KiCk i* and the subsequent *KICK* pentalogy, the musician, producer, singer and visual artist of Venezuelan origins returns with her first studio album after having concluded one of the most ambitious chapters of contemporary music.

Coinciding with the announcement of XXXXX, Arca has confirmed a new airing of Diva.Experimental: an immersive livestream experience directed by Daniel Sannwald and curated by Akeem Smith that will be broadcast live from Barcelona on July 23rd on Twitch and YouTube starting at 9.30pm, and will offer a first taste of the album ahead of its official release. The project, which includes several performances of the album's songs in seven distinct locations, blurs the lines between reality, streaming, performance and hallucination.

If the KICK era expanded the Arca universe outward, XXXXX turns inward and fragments it. Across 16 tracks, the album explores vastly different emotional landscapes and offers a work that is darker, more aggressive, more experimental and reluctant to conform to a fixed form. Initially conceived as a mixtape before revealing itself as an album, XXXXX embraces contradiction as its core methodology. In the spirit of his previous mixtapes @@@@@ (2020) — released as a 62-minute single — and &&&&& (2013), XXXXX thrives on raw exploration and instinct. It comes across as a deliberate disruption of expectations.

It seems like a playful and even spiteful gesture to me, interrupting that automatic pilot” says Arca.

THE RECORD COVER

Ark – XXXXX Album Artwork by Kaan Ulgener 2026

The album cover depicts Ark as a biomechanical entity, accompanied by two owls, symbols of protection and the underworld in Greek mythology. Much like the music itself, the imagery sits in a space between worlds where transformation is both terrifying and liberating. Poised between posthuman enhancement and pure emotion, XXXXX lays the mainframe bare. It is a record born from uncertainty, contradiction, instinct and surrender: a “becoming-machine” that carries forward Arca's lifelong project, aimed at redefining what it means to be human both within the machine and in opposition to it.
