On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of “Daydream”, Mariah Carey digitally releases Daydream: 30th Anniversary Edition, a new edition of the historic album.
This anniversary edition includes previously unreleased songs, crowd favorites, live performances, classic remixes and a new remix version of “Underneath the Stars,” produced by Eric Kupper. Additionally, for the first time, rare demos from Mariah Carey's original songwriting sessions for “Melt Away,” co-written and produced with Babyface, and “I Am Free,” co-written and produced with Walter Afanasieff, are released.
THE HISTORY
Originally released on October 3, 1995 by Columbia Records, “Daydream” is considered one of the most successful albums with audiences and critics. The album, containing numerous international hits, debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart and has sold over 27 million copies worldwide.
“Fantasy” made history as the first song by a female artist to go straight to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. “One Sweet Day,” a collaboration between Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men, also debuted at #1 and remained at the top of the chart for a record 16 consecutive weeks. “Always Be My Baby” also reached #1.
“Daydream” has been certified 11 times multi-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Confirming the album's enduring commercial legacy, the RIAA has awarded new certifications to two of its most celebrated singles: “Fantasy” is 8x multi-platinum, while “Always Be My Baby” has been certified 7x multi-platinum.
THE DOCUMENTARY
The anniversary release is also accompanied by the previously unreleased documentary “MAKING OF FANTASY”, an intimate look behind the backstage of the video clip of one of the best-selling singles of all time, directed by Mariah Carey herself. The footage shows the creation of the iconic “Fantasy” video, giving audiences a rare and personal insight into a seminal moment in pop music history.

On October 16th “Daydream: 30th Anniversary Edition” will also be released in physical format, in triple LP, double CD and cassette.
The 3-LP vinyl version will include the entire Live at Madison Square Garden 1995 concert for the first time. The collection will also include never-before-released songs, which will be released on vinyl for the first time.
The double CD and digital deluxe version will include previously unreleased versions of “Always Be My Baby” and “Open Arms,” recorded during the Daydream Tour stop in Rotterdam on June 17, 1996.
Furthermore, exclusively on Amazon, the limited baby pink vinyl version of “Daydream” will be available.
