Fontaines DC have begun to reveal the cards on their next recording chapter.

After presenting two unreleased songs live during the Spanish concerts, the Irish band has released a first official teaser for “Marianne”, fueling expectations around the fifth album, which has not yet been officially announced.

“Marianne” made its debut on August 8 at the Baluarte de la Candelaria in Cadiz, during Fontaines DC’s return to the stage after almost a year of absence.

The song then also entered the setlists of the concerts in Alicante and Pamplona, confirming that it was not a simple live foray, but a concrete preview of the material the band is working on.

On the same evenings the group also presented “Six Shot Morning”, chosen to open the encore. More synthetic and hypnotic, the song seems to continue the sound research that has already emerged in Romancethe 2024 album, pushing Fontaines DC towards an even more oblique and electronic dimension.

Now the first official signal has arrived. Through YouTube Shorts, Fontaines DC have shared a 30-second teaser of “Marianne,” constructed from footage shot during their Spanish tour. The fragment accompanies a new promotional phase for the band, which in the same hours changed its visual identity on social media and published a new photograph accompanied by the enigmatic number “5”, a clear reference to the next album.

The fifth album has not yet been announced, nor has a release date or further official information been communicated. But the trajectory is now quite clear: “Marianne” seems to be the first real piece of a new season for Fontaines DC, which arrived after Romance and on the eve of some important live events, including Electric Picnic and Reading & Leeds.
