Mogwai collaborates with Iggy Pop on “Underground”

To commemorate the 30th anniversary of Rock Action Records, Mogwai announced the release of his compilation album Happy Tearsscheduled for January 8, 2027. As a preview of this material, the post-rock band presented the single “Underground”, which has the participation of Iggy Pop in the voice and the lyrics.

I’ve always liked Mogwai. The beginning of the song reminded me of that crushing modern loneliness. “The vocals, arranged by Matt Sweeney, felt like they were created for someone who’s pissed off and doesn’t care to say it,” Iggy said in a press release.

The production will bring together emblematic songs, rarities and a new version of “New Paths to Helicon 1” next to the Budapest Art Orchestrawith arrangements of Adam Wiltzie.
