The Flaming Lips will celebrate ‘At War with the Mystics’

The band will celebrate two decades of the album with a deluxe edition.

In the framework of the twentieth anniversary of At War with the Mysticsalbum The Flaming Lips launched in 2006, the group presented At War With the Mystics (20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition). This is a special edition that celebrates two decades of the material, which will arrive on November 13 through Rhino/Warner Records.

The release will be available in six-LP and six-CD formats, and will include 19 demos and 14 studio recordings that had not been officially released during the album’s creation, along with two live performances from 2006: UFOs at the Zoo and Live at the Hollywood Bowl. In this way, the collection brings together a large amount of material that allows us to discover a different side of the band led by Wayne Coyne.

Among all the content there are also different versions of songs such as “The Yeah Yeah Yeah Song”, “Free Radicals”, “The Sound of Failure”, “Vein of Stars” and “Mr. Ambulance Driver”. Topics are even incorporated that The Flaming Lips contributed to soundtracks, radio sessions and recordings for iTunes Originals. Added to this are versions of songs like “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “(Just Like) Starting Over” and “Gates of Steel”.

As a preview, the band shared “The Sound of Failure (2 Demos)”, track that allows you to hear another perspective of the process behind one of the songs of At War With the Mystics. This release works as a way to go back in time to learn the story behind the project, in which The Flaming Lips He explored different versions, formats and sounds.
