Zach Condon’s Beirut return to Italy in summer 2027 with three concerts scheduled in Rome, Bologna and Milan, from 1 to 3 July.
The tour will bring live the musical project of the American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, author of one of the most recognizable trajectories of international indie, suspended between folk, orchestral arrangements and suggestions coming from distant musical traditions.
The calendar opens on Thursday 1 July at the Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone in Rome, as part of the Roma Summer Fest. On Friday 2 July the band will be at the Sequoie Music Park in Bologna, while on Saturday 3 July they will reach the Magnolia in Milan for Unaltrofestival.
The Italian return comes after the publication of A Study of Losses, released in 2025. Consisting of 18 tracks, the album was born from a commission by the Swedish theater company Kompani Giraff and takes inspiration from the book An Inventory of Losses by Judith Schalansky. The theme of disappearance becomes the fulcrum of a work that expands the sound vocabulary of Beirut through ambient atmospheres, choral suggestions and references to ancient music.
Since his debut with Gulag Orkestar in 2006, Zach Condon has built a personal language, in which the melancholy of folk meets the breath of orchestral pop and the influences of world music. A writing capable of evoking places and memories without being reduced to a nostalgic exercise, transforming geographical and temporal distance into compositional matter.
After Hadsel (2023), recorded on the Norwegian island from which it takes its name, A Study of Losses continues Condon’s research into memory and the fragility of things. The three Italian events will offer the opportunity to rediscover this repertoire and listen live to the new directions of a project which, almost twenty years after its debut, continues to escape the more conventional coordinates of indie-folk.
