For more than four decades, Back In Black by AC/DC is undoubtedly part of the pantheon of the greatest rock records. With estimated sales of over 50 million copies (!), it is the second best-selling album of all time behind Thriller by Michael Jackson.
Tested by the death of Bon Scott in February 1980 while the group enjoyed its success since the release of Highway To Hell (1979), AC/DC surpasses itself and finally reveals Back In Black. Brian Johnson arrives as reinforcement and rises to the occasion by helping the group face a new decade. “Hells Bells” pays homage to their beloved singer, but as soon as Brian takes the mic, everything comes to life. The adventure continues with powerful tracks like “Rock And Roll Ain’t No Noise Pollution” and “You Shook Me All Night Long”.
Having become in just a few months one of the group’s most cult songs, “Back in Black” constitutes AC/DC’s last tribute to Scott. Far from the funeral song, the title rather evokes an extraordinary dynamism and very faithful to the state of mind of AC/DC.
The guitar riff has today become a reference for apprentice guitarists. Composed of only a few notes, it is repeated throughout the piece, before alternating with more elaborate compositions which support the voice. A true piece of anthology, which describes well the vibe of the disk.
