ARTWORK_UNE_SEULE_VIE_ANGELE
Une Seule Vie is the new single from Angèle, who returns with a song suspended between pop and electronic. The single anticipates “INSTINCT”, the Belgian artist’s new album out on October 16th.
After “Dis-le”, Angèle shifts the discussion from listening to instinct to the need to follow it. “Une Seule Vie” was born as a flow of thoughts in which the singer questions her relationship with truth, illusion and time. There is no definitive answer, nor a moral to deliver to the listener: the song remains within uncertainty, between memory and desire, until it transforms the simple impulse to live into its point of arrival.
Musically, the piece retains the electronic imprint of “INSTINCT”, but takes it towards a brighter and more immediate dimension. The production is signed by Angèle herself together with Tristan Salvati, a long-time collaborator. The result is a song built to move naturally between dancefloor and radio without sacrificing the introspective component.

THE VIDEO
“Une Seule Vie” is accompanied by a video clip written and directed by Thomas Mailaender, a visual artist active between Marseille and Paris, here making his debut in directing a video clip. Shot in the south of France entirely in 16 mm, the film transforms memories, mental images and fragments of memory into physical elements that break into the singer’s reality.
Mailaender works directly in front of the camera through stop motion, mirrors, overlays and printed images, avoiding building the effects exclusively in post-production. The process remains visible and becomes an integral part of the language of the video. The total solar eclipse on August 12, 2026 was also captured directly on film.
We imagined the video as a succession of memories, visions and mental images that physically break into Angèle’s reality”, explains Mailaender. “The analogue thus becomes the natural language of the video: a fragile and imperfect material to talk about memory, nostalgia and time that slips out of our hands”.
THE DISC
“INSTINCT”, between control and liberation
The new album takes shape around the idea of a return to instinct, understood as that part of oneself that precedes expectations, constructed identities and external pressure. Electronics becomes the grammar of a record interested in the tension between control and liberation, image and reality, conformity and transformation.
Chrome, a recurring element in the visual imagery of the project, translates this ambivalence: a cold, artificial and reflective surface which however becomes a space open to change. In this sense “INSTINCT” does not seem to want to define a new identity for Angèle, but rather to question what remains when the need to define oneself is temporarily suspended.
With “Une Seule Vie”, Angèle brings this reflection into the most universal territory of desire: not that of having all the answers, but that of continuing to live even when the answers do not arrive.
