The Icelandic singer-songwriter ventures for the first time on an entirely his own journey of writing and self-discovery.
The Icelandic artist Ásgeir announced his fifth studio album, Juliawhich will be released on February 13, 2026 through One Little Independent Records. This new material marks a transformation in his career: for the first time, the musician writes all his lyrics without the collaboration of translators or poets, giving way to a deeply introspective and emotional album.
The simple “Smoke” opens this new stage with an intimate and melancholic tone. Recorded live with a four-piece band and complemented by bellows organ, the song explores the loss of one's inner voice and the search for spiritual reconnection. “I felt like I ignored her so much that she stopped talking to me,” he confesses.
