Barry Manilow had lung surgery: his January 2026 farewell concerts postponed

Music news

The singer has rescheduled his farewell concerts planned for January 2026 to allow his convalescence.

Barry Manilow announced that he would undergo surgery to remove a “cancerous spot” on his lung.

In a post shared on Instagram, the crooner revealed that the stain was discovered shortly after finishing his recent run of Christmas shows at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino. Manilow explained that after recovering from six weeks of bronchitis and a five-week relapse, he went to see his doctor “just to make sure everything was okay”.

The “bad news,” Manilow continued, is that he must suffer “an operation to remove the stain”. But, he said, his doctors are optimistic about his current condition: “Doctors don’t think it has spread and I’m having tests to confirm their diagnosis. So, there you go. No chemo. No radiotherapy. Just chicken soup and reruns of I Love Lucy. The only follow-up is a month of recovery, which means we have to reschedule the January arena concerts. »

A farewell tour temporarily on hiatus

The singer apologized to his fans. “I’m so sorry you have to change your plans”he wrote, noting how much he hates having to move everything. “Just like you, we were all looking forward to the January concerts and hated having to move everything”he added. “In the meantime, I'm counting down the days until I return to my second home at Westgate Las Vegas for our Valentine's Day weekend concerts, February 12, 13 and 14 and throughout 2026.”
