Concert review – LATEST: We are in history! (Lineup and Info)

Music news

There are dreams that remain hanging for years, kept in silence and protected from the gaze of others. And then there are visions so clear that they seem like memories of the future:
something that has not yet happened, but which those who imagine it already feel as inevitable.”

The day I've been waiting for is here. Last night, Saturday 4 July Rome, Ultimo wrote a new page in Italian music.

On the Tor Vergata esplanade, framed by Calatrava's Vela in Piazzale Giovanni Paolo II, Ultimo held “La favola per semper”: the largest concert ever given by an artist in Italy for a single event.

We are in history”

Once the concert had just finished, Ultimo himself made a hot comment on social media, repeating the closing phrase of the concert. A dry, very powerful sentence:

We are in history.” In the video posted you can see him from behind, in front of a huge audience illuminated only by the lights of his mobile phones, singing the chorus of Pianeti at the top of his lungs.

And after the opening of the concert by Fabrizio Moro, the only guest and its artistic discoverer, it was precisely from Pianeti that “The fairytale forever” started. There couldn't have been a better opening. In 2017 that song was released when gold records and sold out stadiums seemed very far away. The only concert he had under his belt was at the Testaccio market, in front of 10 people. Yesterday there were 250 thousand.

A no-nonsense king

The concert officially crowns him king of live performances, surpassing the record of Vasco (who dedicated a beautiful handover post to him immediately after the event) and his 225 thousand at Modena Park in 2017.

At the end of the esplanade of the University of Tor Vergata the writing “Blessed are the last because they will be the first” first appeared. Then him, with bright eyes like those of someone who had been waiting for him for hours. Visibly excited, but just singing the first notes was enough for the tension to slip away.

This isn't just a concert, it's the day I've been waiting for, this is the fairy tale, the fairy tale forever.”

he said. And it kept the promise of an essential live performance. Just him, the band and 250 thousand voices.

Last-040626-live-

45 songs, ten years of history

The setlist followed all the artist's key steps: over 45 songs including medleys and singles that told the story of a decade.

Giusy also recovered from Pianeti (2017). From Peter Pan (2018) The most fragile star in the universe and The dance of uncertainties. From Colpa delle favole (2019) Swallows on a leash and Your details.

He also played Solo and Equilibrio mente from 2021, songs never performed live before: “because certain songs take you back to when you wrote them”.

The audience is the real fairy tale

Ultimo's audience is different, but they are in perfect harmony with what a boy from San Basilio has been telling for ten years. A lucky guy, yes. But as he reminded us from the stage: being lucky doesn't mean not suffering. Having your dream job doesn't mean having no fears. Achieving your dream does not mean having no fragility.

If by talking about you I ended up talking about myself, then it means that we are the same thing.” This is what we saw yesterday at Tor Vergata: an audience that, as only happens with the greats, has a piece of Ultimo within them.

The fairy tale has begun. And for one evening it became forever.
