'Dame un grrr', the latest hit in Spanish to come from Romania: who is behind the song?

Music news

If you have entered to TikTok these dayssurely you have found several users who have begun to sing in front of the camera the following: “Give me a grr (A what?) A grr (A what, a what?) A grr (A what? )A grr A grr, a grr, a grr, a grr (A what?). And the audio totals more than two million videos on the famous platform.

The curious thing is that most of these people do not know that this audio belongs to a song by Fantomel and Kate Linn. Two artists who have seen how the song they released on TikTok has become a success. In fact, the topic was not even on platforms when it began to go viral. It was last June 20, after the success it had on TikTok, when it finally came out on Spotify and YouTube.

And the two artists have had the support of some of the best-known TikTok creators in the world such as Bach, Lola Lolita or Tatiana Kare. With easy choreography, imitating a lion, and lyrics that are very easy to memorize, Grrr has become the perfect viral of the season. But who is behind this song?

Fantomel and Kate Linn: the artists behind Grrr

The creators of this viral song are Fantomel and Kate Linntwo Romanian artists who have seen their song go viral in three weeks. As they explained in a TikTok video, the song was created in a room in 2024.

“A year ago I didn't know I was going to fulfill a dream. I started being Fantomel. We made this song in our room,” they began by saying.

@fantomelmusic

We're from Romania. The song will be in Spanish & English. Thank you so much 🙏🏼🔥 #dameungrr @Kate Linn

“Now, Dame un Grrr has about a million TikToks in two weeks. Thanks for everything,” they have continued to say.

The complete song (because it goes beyond the phrase that has gone viral), is in Spanish and English. And, of course, it didn't take long to sneak into the viral charts.

Little is known about the two artists who created the song. In fact, Fantomel covers his face with a kind of mask reminiscent of Marshmello. He also has other songs on platforms such as Not Friends either shake with more than a million views.
