In recent months, the talented and stunning Dua Lipa has been everywhere. In May 2023, the British-Albanian singer graced the presence of the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, before starring last summer as a mermaid in the blockbuster Barbie, for which she signed the hit “Dance the Night.” The singer has also collaborated with Versace on a collection of colorful and sexy clothing called La Vacanza and transformed her Instagram account into a fashion show. This Wednesday, January 31, she will be on the big screen in the movie “Argylle” alongside Henry Cavill. But despite her multiple ventures, she has also taken the time to record a new album… Her latest singles, “Training Season” and “Houdini”
In recent days, Dua Lipa has been building excitement around a brand new single. On Instagram, the singer posted a photo of herself hanging from a gymnastics bar to announce the release of a new single, “Training Season,” on February 15, 2024. In a statement, the star declared about the song, “This track is about the end of my training period and the fact that I have emerged stronger from all my experiences. I have never felt so confident, clear, or independent. And even though training periods never really end, we begin to find beauty in meeting the person to experience them with. We stop seeking beginners and are more interested in the possibility of having someone who is more suited to us, with whom to grow.” The single will follow “Houdini,” Dua Lipa’s latest hit released on November 9, 2023, at midnight, written by Kevin Parker of Tame Impala, Tobias Jesso Jr., Danny L Harle, and Caroline Ailin.
The athletic and sexy music video, released at the same time as the song, was directed by Manu Cossu and cinematographer André Chemetoff and produced by Romain Gavras, Dua Lipa’s ex-boyfriend. The video shows the pop star dancing in a gym, in an atmosphere reminiscent of the film Flashdance and Madonna’s “Hung Up” music video. These ventures signify a new chapter in the music career of Dua Lipa. The star describes the single, which she played for passersby in the street in London before its release, as a transcription of “that feeling at 4 a.m. when the night is coming to an end, when you are a little sweaty but you don’t want the party to stop.”
Dua Lipa has been working secretly on the successor to the excellent and highly danceable “Future Nostalgia” (2020). According to Rolling Stone magazine, Kevin Parker has written eight of the eleven songs on the upcoming album. This hints at a record inspired by psychedelia, indie, synthpop, and electropop for 2024. The English producer Mark Ronson has given more insights about the album in an interview, calling it “amazing!” and signaling a new direction for Dua Lipa. This upcoming album is set to be released in 2024..
