Geese ignites NPR's Tiny Desk with 'Getting Killed'

Music news

The Brooklyn group set up their amps in the NPR offices for three songs from their acclaimed album — between hypnotic slow burns, deadpan delivery and Sonic holding baby Jesus in his arms.

Geese showed up at NPR's Tiny Desk with his own collection of trinkets and three pieces from Getting Killedtheir critically acclaimed album in 2025.

There was no question for the Brooklyn group of bringing out the acoustic guitars – but the setlist knew how to embrace the intimacy of the format. Geese opened with “Husbands”bewitching slow burn, before sliding towards the cerebral volutes of “Cobra”then close the set on “Half Real”vibrant and on edge.

“NPR employees don't have that many friends!” »

Between “Husbands” And “Cobra”singer Cameron Winter was amused by the surprisingly large crowd who came to watch the group perform. “Do you need a ticket to enter? » he said, impassive, before continuing: “I thought there were only NPR people here. And friends…NPR employees don't have that many friends! »

A Sonic cradling Jesus and a stuffed goose

As NPR noted in its article, bassist Dominic DiGesu was happy, before the concert, to add his own finds to the bric-a-brac of books, trinkets and office supplies that clutters the desks and shelves of the “set”. On the program: a stuffed Snoopy, a figurine of Sonic the Hedgehog cradling a little Jesus, a New York Mets cap – his favorite team – and, the most obvious and most appropriate detail, a plastic goose offered by a fan on tour.
