“Giraffe”, the new release from Gilla Band

Music news

An idiosyncratic and innovative hybrid.

After almost four years, Gilla Band come back with “Giraffe”a launch in picture disc 7” that is now available via Rough Trade Records. The Dublin quartet made up of Dara Kiely, Alan Duggan Borges, Daniel Fox and Adam Faulkner continues to redefine contemporary rock after a decade of experience. His visionary approach, characterized by abstract textures and complex rhythms, has been instrumental in innovating the use of the guitar and transforming the sound of the Irish independent scene.

With “Giraffe”the band reaffirms its unique style: a bold hybrid that challenges labels such as post punk or noise rock. This new proposal is the result of an idiosyncratic vision that only this quartet could have perfected, fusing the abrasive intensity of their previous works with a compositional maturity that expands the limits of their own sound universe. Through this material, Gilla Band shows that his ability to dismantle and reconstruct musical genres is still as current and sharp as in his beginnings.

In this song, the first few sections represent what my mental state is usually like. It can be a very spread out and sometimes lonely place. Feeling unloved and finding it difficult to express what I'm really thinking,” Dara Kiely said in a press release.
