Hilary Duff found herself embroiled in an online debacle stemming from an essay written by Ashley Tisdale, but prefers to focus on her musical comeback with explicit lyrics.
As the furor over Ashley Tisdale's essay on mom groups “toxic” continues to spread across the Internet, Hilary Duff — whose husband Matthew Koma joined in, intensifying the drama — turns a deaf ear.
On Wednesday, Duff drummed up excitement around her new album, releasing a sample of a song about dates in seedy bars, awkward roommates and a once-passionate romance fading in the relationship graveyard.

The “Mom Group” controversy
While fans wait to learn more about this upcoming track — no release date or title has been announced yet — Duff has also been embroiled in the drama surrounding another Disney Channel alum, Ashley Tisdale. Last week, Tisdale wrote an essay for The Cut detailing how she broke up with a group of moms after a series of storylines that left her feeling left out, like she was back in high school, minus the musical.
Although Tisdale didn't name any names, online investigators speculated that the group in question included the likes of Mandy Moore, Meghan Trainor and Duff. Shortly after, Koma posted an Instagram Story photo recreating the one from Tisdale's essay, accompanied by a scathing fake headline declaring: “When you're the most self-centered, out-of-touch person on Earth, other moms tend to focus on their own kids. » In the caption, Koma added: “A group of mothers tell everything through the eyes of a father”.
While none of the alleged members of Tisdale's enigmatic former mom group have yet spoken out, Duff's husband reposted his wife's video, commenting succinctly: “Let’s. Fucking. Gooooo. »
