For the first time since its creation, the winner will not represent Spain in Eurovision. Instead, RTVE has reformulated the contest to turn it into a great independent musical showcase, whose main prize will be the Little Golden Mermaid and a financial provision of 150,000 euros destined to boost the career of the winning artist.

The 2026 voting system also recovers a long-awaited element: the demoscopic votewhich returns after its absence in the previous edition. The weighting is distributed as follows: 50% for the professional jury, 25% for the demoscopic vote and 25% for televoting issued through the app. In this way, RTVE seeks to balance the opinion of the general public, the representative sample and the technical assessment of experts.
