Dimitri Vegas talks about the show bigger than him and Like Mike have done in Mexico, the immersive scene they are building and why the electronic scene continues to excite him after so many years.
Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike They are one of the most recognized duos in global electronic music, with a career built on massive productions and a years-long relationship with the Mexican public. The brothers return to Mexico City on October 31 to perform at the Monumental Bullring Mexicoin what they describe as the biggest show they have put on in the country. Indie Rocks!: How excited are you to come to Mexico?
Dimitri Vegas: Super excited. Mexico for us is one of our favorite countries to be in and to play, so to return now with such a big show is incredible.
GO!: Tell us a little about the show, because I keep hearing that it’s going to be incredible, but I want to hear it from you.
DV: It’s probably the biggest show we’ve ever done in Mexico, and I would say in South America in general. It’s a huge space, it’s going to be a crazy production. So yes, we are going in with everything.
GO!: What is your favorite part of the production? The visuals, the lights? What is it?
DV: I would say that the fact that we are building a very unique, very immersive scenario, which is going to bring us very close to people. It’s going to be a very close connection with our fans, which is something we really love.
GO!: Is this going to be some kind of mini EDC?
DV: It’s going to be our own thing, but let’s just say that vibe-wise, I definitely expect it to be at the level of a EDCbecause all EDC that I have played in Mexico have been crazy.
GO!: When was the last time you came to Mexico? Do you remember?
DV: I mean last year, or maybe the year before. Latest EDC It was in 2025, but last year I also came. I’m thinking… the festival The Balloonsbut I don’t quite remember where it was, I need to think about it.
GO!: You come quite often, right? It was the Balloons festival in Leon.
DV: Sure, sure, it was last year. Yes, last year I was in the EDC. Exactly, the Balloons festival in León, that is. You have a good memory, that’s great. I always remember the Mexican shows, because they are crazy, but I have done so many EDC that sometimes it is difficult to remember what year each one was from.
GO!: Then this is your own show. How long will it last?
DV: I would say about two hours. And of course, there are also going to be plenty of great support acts. It’s going to be a party, it’s going to be whole hours.
GO!: And with Like Mike. It’s different coming with him, isn’t it?
DV: Sure, of course. It’s going to be great to be on stage with my brother again. It’s definitely something we’re looking forward to.
GO!: We have new music from you this year, right?
DV: Yeah, “Makina Time” It’s probably one of the biggest of the year. It’s working amazing, and we’re coming up with new music in a couple of weeks too. We stay busy.
GO!: Are you going to bring in any other collaborators to come on stage, or is it just the two of you?
DV: We left that as a surprise. You never know.
