In 2026 the Music Awards celebrate the extraordinary milestone of their twentieth edition.
Among the most important Italian musical events, on stage since 2007, the event celebrates the protagonists of the national scene, with awards relating to the results obtained with records, singles, tours, a real affirmation of the success of the music market.
The Music Awards are preparing to experience two unforgettable and special evenings to celebrate this exceptional anniversary, Friday 18 and Saturday 19 September 2026 (show start at 8.30 pm), in the spectacular setting of the Verona Arena, now a symbolic place of the event, which it will host for the sixteenth time.
From 2007 to today, during all the editions, the Music Awards have hosted over 600 artists on stage and awarded more than 1,000 prizes, numbers that tell both the longevity of the event and the vitality of the Italian music market.
In twenty years of history, the award has been able to evolve in step with changes in the industry, starting in the first edition with only awards relating to record sales successes, to which recognitions for singles have been added over the years (with the emergence of the use of music in digital format) and awards linked to the results of tours and live events. To complete this, there are also special prizes awarded by trade associations and partners, together with career awards, which confirm the ability of the Music Awards to trace, year after year, the evolution of the entire Italian entertainment and live scene.
Different from any other national and international event, Music Awards recognizes the concrete success of artists: each singer or band, in fact, receives recognition for their achievements. Today, in fact, albums that have achieved FIMI/NIQ Gold, Platinum and Multiplatinum certifications and Platinum and Multiplatinum singles, published during the previous twelve months, are rewarded. Live shows are also rewarded, specifically events and tours that have exceeded 100,000 (Gold), 200,000 (Platinum) and 300,000 attendances (Diamond), certified by SIAE.
Over the past twenty years, the Music Awards have been a reflection of changes not only in the recording and entertainment industries, but also of crucial moments in our country. Evidence of this was, for example, the 2020 edition, which demonstrated how music can continue to unite and support, even in the most difficult periods. In the year of the pandemic, in fact, the event has transformed into a real charity initiative: no prizes, but pure entertainment – in compliance with the restrictions in force – with the aim of raising funds to support entertainment workers hit hard by the pandemic crisis.
