Neil Young and the Chrome Hearts will release “Second Song” — five previously unreleased songs and two tracks over 60 years old — on September 18.

Young sings about the need to talk to someone — someone his own age, who will smile and talk back, who still remembers; someone with whom to share a way of living and to move slowly through time.
Young and the Chrome Hearts canned all five songs in just two days, and had nothing else to record — until Young delved into his archives and unearthed “I’ll Love You Forever” and “Casting Me Away From You,” two songs from his teenage years on the mid-1960s Canadian scene.

Young returned to the stage on May 22, for four songs for the 90th birthday of environmental activist David Suzuki, at the Queen Elizabeth Theater in Vancouver. He is next scheduled to perform on September 26 at Farm Aid — the festival co-founded by Willie Nelson — in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
