Panda Bear and Sonic Boom announce 'A ? of WHEN'

Music news

The duo returns with a more experimental album.

After the great reception that the collaborative album had Reset in 2022 between Noah Lennoxbetter known as panda bear of Animal Collectiveand Pete Kember of Sonic Boomthe duo announced the release of their next album titled TO ? of WHENwhich will arrive on July 10, 2026 through the Domino label and will consist of ten songs.

This new installment will continue to explore psychedelic textures, but this time with instrumentation that includes harp loops, steel drum sequences, guitars pedal steel and even some winks inspired by a mariachi from Mexico City. To achieve this sound, the duo included the participation of collaborators such as the harpist Mary Lattimore and the British multi-instrumentalist Daniel O'Sullivan.

Along with this announcement, the musicians shared the homonymous song that advances the sound of the material. According to the artists themselves, the song represents that moment when all the things that have been ruined finally catch up to us. Musically, the piece manages to transform the sensation of seeing the world with a deep sigh into an effervescent pop piece, a seal that both musicians have mastered throughout their careers.

TO ? of WHEN will be available on vinyl, CD, cassette and digital download via bandcamp and Domino Mart, leaving out the platforms streaming. A point to highlight is that the album mixes the melodic sensitivity of Lennox with the psychedelic and vintage production of Kemberwhere the duo once again explores experimental pop through the use of loops and analog sounds, but now with a much more conceptual intention.

This is the cover and the tracklist:

01. “Never givin' in”

02. “Lucky Charm”

03. “Revive him”
