The song, produced by Colin Brittainjoins the band's other hits such as “Scars”. This song highlights the more emotional and melodic side of the group, addressing emotional connection and dependence through expansive choruses.
'Wake Up Calling' is a song about being on the brink of disaster, being pulled back before you fall, and ultimately choosing love over self-destruction. “It is one of the rawest and most emotional songs we have written in this new stage,” Shaddix describes in a press release.
