Inaugurated in May, the exhibition retraces through archives and personal objects the post-Beatles decade of Paul McCartney and Wings, from hesitant beginnings to packed stadiums.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is set to go back in time to the 1970s with an exhibit dedicated to Paul McCartney and Wings. The first museum retrospective of its kind, the collection brings together a decade of objects and archival materials provided by McCartney himself, as well as former band members and relatives. Opening May 15.
Some pieces that will be unveiled at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame museum have never been exhibited in public. The collection ranges from the expected elements — instruments used during the recording sessions of the group's seven studio albums — to more intimate choices: handwritten lyrics, immersive videos and photographs restoring the atmosphere of the era.
McCartney has been celebrating his Wings period profusely for the past year. In February 2025, the musician announced the release of Wings: The Story of a Band on the Runa book tracing his post-Beatles journey — two solo albums before finding the formula that worked with Wings.
McCartney formed the band in 1971 alongside Linda McCartney, former Moody Blues singer Denny Laine and drummer Denny Seiwell. Besides the exhibition and the book, the story of Wings will also be told in the upcoming documentary Paul McCartney: Man on the Runreleased February 27 on Prime Video. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame will host a preview on February 21.
