Review: ARISA – “Shaky photos”

Music news

Arisa-Foto-Mosse-album-2026.

Arisa's eighth effort, 5 years after “Ero Romantica” (and in fact her return to Sanremo also came after five years with the appreciated “Magica favola”) presents itself as a concept album on emotional instability, a true photograph of its author today, among contradictions, transformations and unprecedented serenity and awareness.

In this album there is certainly more Rosalba, who signs 12 songs out of 15, among which she is the only author in “Lonely Boy”, “Nuvole” (both with an R&B flavour) and “Ed era maggio”. Exceptions are the valid “Atomi” (where its historic author Giuseppe Anastasi, Galeffi and Alessandro Flora intervene), “Benedetti Amanti” (Anastasi again) and “Arrivederci” (by the young Giulio Cannavale and Giorgia Pesare), which closes the circle of this story in a somewhat weak way.

Among the best moments of the album, the airy mid-tempo ballads “Portami con te” (co-signed by Dimartino) and “Amore universal” (here the co-signed by Dente), although the most exciting song, however, remains “Canta Ancora” from two years ago (written by Arisa with Giuseppe Barbera and already the main theme of the film “The Boy with Pink Pants”), here presented again in the Spanish version (and we wish her an excellent response on Iberian soil).

15 tracks nowadays are not few, especially if at least 3-4 are not memorable and if in general there are no particular flashes, neither harmonious nor productive – Mamakass' work is in fact functional but never tries to escape the ordinary.

The attempt to propose an exquisitely pop album is certainly to be appreciated, which does not wink at the current mainstream with cutting-edge featuring or urban experiments with a fashionable flavor but which would have risked being out of place here. What emerges is an out of the ordinary and enveloping voice (which everyone now knows well and recognizes with affection), melody in the foreground and sincerity of intent, for a pleasantly retro result.

Not a little, objectively, but Arisa's talent deserves songs that are more solid and capable of lasting, as has already happened in the past; “Shaky photos” instead still seems like a passing point and not a goal reached, where Rosalba's photo today seems more in focus than Arisa's still somewhat “shaky” one.
