Review: CENTRAL CEE – “All Roads Lead Home”

CENTRAL-CEE-All-Roads-Lead-Home-ep-2026

The boundary between album and EP remains a fragile convention, more negotiated than defined. The running time counts, of course, but also the symbolic density, the strategic function, sometimes the pure recording and marketing opportunism.

In “All Roads Lead Home” Central Cee works precisely on this ambiguity: seven tracks, less than twenty minutes, a compact format that does not allow for dispersions.

It is not a turning point, rather a transition point. All roads lead home is the statement, the very clear checkpoint in its global trajectory.

Cench compresses the story in constant tension, avoiding the superfluous: here fame is not a trophy but a reflecting surface, it restores pressure, exposes cracks, forces an unstable balance between identity and character.

Central Cee dominates the microphone with a phlegm that borders on aristocracy, but it is a restless aristocracy, never complacent. His writing moves in a subtle dialectic between vulnerability and ostentation, without falling into complacency. The sound system remains anchored to the grammar of UK drill, but there is a work of subtraction: less emphasis, more control, a rhythmic rigor that tends towards essentiality. Don't look for immediate impact, rather work on persistence.

The artwork, set at a bus stop in Shepherd's Bush, is anything but decorative. It is a declarative, almost didactic gesture: roots exposed, personal geography that becomes a symbolic map. There is no nostalgia, rather awareness of the journey.

“All Roads Lead Home” does not aspire to be a manifesto, and for this reason it is convincing. It is an exercise in style, yes, but in the noblest sense. And in a landscape often saturated with redundancy, this measure sounds like an act of strength.
