SAL-DA-VINCI@Cestari-2026
Seventeen years after his last appearance at the Ariston, Sal Da Vinci returns to the Sanremo Festival with Forever yes, song that marks a new phase of his career.
The song is produced by Merk & Kremont and Adriano Pennino and written by Sal Da Vinci, Francesco Da Vinci, Alessandro La Cava, Federica Abbate, Merk & Kremont and Eugenio Maimone.
During the cover evening Sal Da Vinci will perform together with Michele Zarrillo reinterpreting “Cinque Giorni”. A meeting between two similar artistic sensibilities that dialogue on a song that has marked the history of Italian songwriting. A song that, more than thirty years after its first performance in Sanremo, continues to speak to the present, crossing new generations and languages.
Singer, actor and performer of over forty years of Italian music, Da Vinci talks about love as a daily promise, an invisible thread that binds two people over time.
In this interview, between reflections on neo-melodic music, his passion for theater and popular music, and the memory of his first experiences in Sanremo, the artist opens his artistic and human journey with the sincerity that has always distinguished him.
THE INTERVIEW
In Sanremo after 17 years. How do you experience this return to Ariston?
Hello everyone, it's a real pleasure to be here. This return after 17 years is an enormous joy for me. My first experience in 2009 was a bit tumultuous: I was eliminated, then reinstated, and even pushed to the podium by a popular vote. I never expect anything, I give without expecting anything, and I welcome with gratitude what happens, both positive and negative.
Let's talk about the song you will bring to Sanremo, “Per semper Sì”.
It is a piece that marks a new phase in my career. It talks about love as a daily choice, an invisible thread that unites two people over time. It is the synthesis of my experience as a performer and my life, and I hope it reaches the hearts of those who listen.
During the cover evening you will perform with Michele Zarrillo. How did this meeting come about?
We will reinterpret “Cinque Giorni”, a song that marked the history of Italian songwriting. After more than thirty years he continues to speak in the present and dialogue with the new generations. It will be a moment of comparison between two similar sensibilities, a celebration of Italian music that resists and evolves.
Last question: how would you define your music and your artistic identity today?
Proud of being a popular singer, proud of being a neo-melodic. My music is passion, craft, emotion. It is the fruit of over forty years of career and collaborations that never cease to enrich my art.
You often talk about love and commitment in your lyrics. What does “the promise” mean to you?
The promise is something serious, a journey that has a weight for each of us. When you make a promise, you can't run away from difficulties: if storms come, you buy umbrellas. The promise means building the future, laying the foundations. Humanity without family could not exist, and women are the heart of this continuity. Without them, humanity would not exist.
Your music always seems to reflect this personal and social commitment. How did your artistic journey begin?
I was born as an actor, not as a singer. I started singing very little as a child, then one day James Senese wrote me a song, with the back signed by Peppe Lanzetta. From there an incredible journey began: I used my voice to talk about life, social issues, the experiences of my twenties, twenties and thirties. Collaborations with musicians like the Showman drummer marked a long phase in my artistic life.
Today the way of enjoying music has changed, especially with social media and digital platforms.
Once upon a time we queued to buy the record; today music passes through digital platforms. Luckily vinyl is making a comeback, a wonderful thing. I continue to make music out of passion, without worrying about trends or appearing in a certain way in the newspapers. I have always supported social issues with musicals and theater, but my truth remains that of those who create art with sincerity and honesty.
