SANREMO 2026 – SAYF: “I haven't suffered the impact of my origins. Perhaps because of my look, not exactly that of a Tunisian”

Interviews

I like you so much, is the song that Sayf presented for this Sanremo Festival. Light-hearted and irreverent.

I have not suffered the impact of my origins. Maybe because of my look, not exactly that of a Tunisian

THE INTERVIEW

Cite Luigi Tenco. Is it difficult to balance the impact of your music on new generations?

I don't know if it's more difficult for my generation. Surely the whole world is moving in a direction that leaves in-depth analysis behind. The text of my canon was born spontaneously.

Who would you like to duet with in the future?

I see something of Dalla in Eddie Brock, maybe sooner or later something will happen. Right now I'd like to do something with Enzo Avitabile.

In Tu mi piaci tanto there is also a sense of slowing down, is this intentional?

I want to give my opposite opinion on the direction of things. It seems right to me to counterbalance when everything goes in the direction of pursuit, of individualism, life is made up of opposites: the other, listening to each other.

Why did you decide to bring your mom on stage yesterday?

I wanted to be able to say that in life I was also able to bring my mother on the Sanremo stage.

Is there a message you want to leave to your Tunisian audience?

I want to leave a message of hope, of not closing ourselves in stereotypes but of opening up to the new.

How much did it influence your musical education?

Good trumpet players are others. I learned to read sheet music in middle school. I have no real musical knowledge. I have integrated a tool that I have always liked into a show

What inspires you when you write?

It's all the fruit of the moment I live. Many times when we focus on a rapper, on his lyrics we forget that the song is the result of the society we are seeing, of what we experience
