The band returns with a new single that recovers the essence of its beginnings.
Sports Team is back with “Billy”a new single that recovers the energy and spirit that characterized the early years of the British band. This release is the group’s first so far this year and the first song they present after Boys These Days in 2025, his latest album.
With “Billy”the group made up of Alexander Rice, Robert Knaggs, Henry Young, Oliver Dewdney, Alexandra Greenwood and Benjamin Mack presents a song that Knaggs described as a “love letter” to getting drunk in a pub on a Tuesday night, where Sports Team sought to capture a moment that quickly spirals out of control.
He track arrives accompanied by a video directed by Kris Rwhich features a character with a huge paper mache head as the protagonist. The concept of the clip accompanies the tone of the song and reinforces the idea presented in the lyrics, taking it towards a louder atmosphere along with a story that portrays the excesses of a night out.
“Billy” was recorded live in RAK Studios next to Seth Evans and Adele Phillips. The production process captured a fast, loose and noisy essence, recovering part of the intensity that has characterized the group throughout its career. With this launch, Sports Team shows that it keeps its essence intact and that it still finds new ways to renew its sound.
