The icon Michèle Lamy in the trailer of Nerissima Serpe's new album

The protagonist of the trailer for Nerissima Serpe's new album is Michèle Lamy, an icon of fashion and style. A truly unique character.

A$AP Rocky called her the “dark queen of fashion”. And to say that she is only Rick Owens' wife is extremely reductive. Michèle Lamy is a producer, a designer, a musician, a muse, the business partner and wife of Rick Owens, she is a fixture in the fashion and nightlife scene of New York and Paris. She is a 360° artist.

Born in the Jura, France, 80 years ago to a family of Algerian origins, she studied law and worked as a lawyer during the 60s and 70s. Then she left the law and began working as a cabaret dancer around France, before moving to the United States in 1979. In Los Angeles she founded a fashion line and managed two successful nightclubs. He began singing, a passion he has maintained over the years, so much so that he still performs with the electronic music band Lavascar, together with his daughter Scarlett Rouge. Also in Los Angeles, in 1984, he founded his clothing line, Lamy, where he hired a young Californian designer, Rick Owens, as a pattern maker. Together they founded the line that bears his name and married in 2006. Today, Lamy is the Executive Manager of the brand's furniture line, produces its eccentric furniture and designs jewellery.

His style is unmistakable. The gold teeth, the piercings, the maxi silver rings, the tattoos on the fingers inspired by the Berbers of North Africa, make her a modern pagan goddess. Eccentric, non-conformist, without rules, she loves wearing her husband's creations, but she also has a huge archive of Comme des Garçons clothes, is a supporter of Gareth Pugh, and wears the creations of talented young designers.

And in his 80s he really did everything. He collaborated with A$AP Rocky; transformed a container ship into a floating exhibition at the Venice Biennale. And, for many years, he has been practicing boxing, so much so that in 2018 he founded a gym, “Lamyland”, at Selfridges in London. His image, so unconventional, is a conscious choice, born at 16 after a trip to Tunisia: “I saw the Berber women and was completely seduced by them“, he said, in contrast with his grandmother who “he powdered his skin to conform to the rulesHis style, he explained, is linked toto personality rather than aesthetics”.
