Music news

Without having played together since December 2019, The Raconteurs resurfaced by surprise during Jack White’s concert in Nashville. Five titles on the encore, including Steady as She Goes. This reunion coincides with the announcement of the reissue of the twenty years of Broken Boy Soldiers at Third Man Records.

The Raconteurs found themselves on stage for the first time in seven years on Saturday at the Jack White concert in Nashville.

Earlier in the day, White had hinted, not very subtly, that his solo concert in The Truth hall would book a reunion with the group. He wrote on social media: “Insider info for all the Raconteurs fans in the Nashville area… you might want to grab a ticket to Jack White’s show at Truth tonight… there might be a little surprise…”

The surprise came at the encore, with a set of five pieces played by the quartet (White, Brendan Benson, Jack Lawrence and Patrick Keeler), including Steady as She Goes and three other titles from Broken Boy Soldiersthe group’s first album, released in 2006:

The Raconteurs’ last record, their third album Help Me Strangerwas released in 2019, eleven years after the second, Consolers of the Lonelypublished in 2008. It remains to be seen whether this Saturday reunion was a one-off to celebrate the reissue of Broken Boy Soldiers and/or the opening of the new venue The Truth in Nashville, or if the group has bigger plans.
