Thom Yorke made a surprise appearance at Flea's London concert last night, performing their recent collaboration 'Traffic Lights' and a cover of Marvin Gaye's 1977 hit 'Got to Give It Up'.
Flea is currently continuing the European leg of his solo tour, in support of his latest album Honora. Last night, he gave his only solo date in the United Kingdom, at Koko in London, where he invited Thom Yorke to come on stage. The duo has already shared the stage on numerous occasions, notably within the supergroup Atoms for Peace. Yorke recently lent his talent to “Traffic Lights”, a title taken fromHonora.

“Traffic Lights” was co-written with Yorke and Josh Johnson. “There was something about this song that reminded me of Atoms for Peace, so I sent it to Thom”explained Flea in a press release when the title was released. “I know him well, and I told myself that this rhythm and this sensitivity would speak to him. And I was right. With this sublime melody and these lyrics, you know, about living in an “upside down” world and trying to make sense of it all when we are drowned in bullshit, both true and false… Everyone has their own way of dealing with the world. But Thom is the warmest, freest, jamming guy there is. »
