With a more independent approach, Cry Baby It is emerging as a project that is committed to a freer and more personal vision, even from its sound construction, since it incorporates live instrumentation as a central part of its proposal.
Under this context, “Blackberry Marmalade” Not only does it work as the first look, but it also brings with it a political message. In the song, Staples addresses topics such as violence and the experience of being a black person in the United States, with a narrative that is complemented by a video recorded in first person, where the viewer is immersed in the story as if they were the protagonist.
