Emis Killa and Fedez visited the inmates of the Monza prison
After the inaugural meeting which saw the dialogue between the inmates, Emis Killa and Lazza, the Sanquirico prison in Monza opens its doors again to Free For Musicthe initiative conceived and financed by Orange Records with the socio-educational supervision of Paolo Piffer, who uses music as a tool for comparison, re-elaboration and self-awareness.
Friday 12 December, the second appointment saw the participation of Fedez and the return of Emis Killawho chose to be present again due to the strong connection with the project. The day was divided into two distinct phases: a first meeting with around 80 inmates and a second smaller moment with around twenty young people who joined the programme, during which unreleased songs created within the laboratory were listened to.
In the dialogue with the inmates, Fedez and Emis Killa made themselves available to talk about their human and professional journey, answering questions and addressing issues that, in prisons, return with particular urgency: the weight of decisions that change a life, The relationship with time and freedom when they are taken awayThe bond with familiesand the role of the community in the moment of reintegration.
The theme of freedom was central. Emis Killa underlined how we often begin to be truly free when we stop chasing freedom as an abstract concept, while Fedez reflected on how much the true possibility of freedom lies in self-expression and in recognizing that the most difficult cage to overcome is often the internal one.
Afterwards, the workshop participants were able to play their unreleased songs to Fedez and Emis Killa, receiving feedback, advice and demonstrating a significant level of talent and commitment. The boys also listened together with the artists to some tracks from “Musica Triste”, the new album by Emis Killa, released on 5 December 2025, in a precious dimension of sharing that strengthened the sense of the activity.
Both artists have expressed concrete willingness to support the project also on an operational leveldeclaring themselves ready to support the penitentiary institution by providing musical instruments and useful resources so that music can become an effective means of re-education and acquisition of skills, which can also be used at the end of detention. A commitment that is linked to theme of reintegrationon which Emis Killa placed the emphasis, recalling how, often, those who leave prison find themselves excluded from society, despite the continuous public appeal to the values of inclusion.
