Discover the very first studio album from the French group Fury Road, which will delight fans of classic rock.
It's time to share this Fury Road of Fury Roadon our deck for weeks. Originally from Alès, the group takes, of course, its name from the George Miller film. Clearly for the game to the fullest and we are not disappointed. “Fury Road”, the first track of this muscular album, sets the tone: strong mid-tempo, catchy chorus, big sound. “It’s awesome”, as they say when we go back to basics. “Let the Rock Come Back” then imposes itself with a Rolling Stones-style guitar rhythm but with a much heavier sound for the bass/drums pair.
Surprisingly we think of Boss Hoss for “Dead Rats” because of the folk guitar rhythm and a more rootsy side. The single “Jimmy” highlights the quality of Benjamin's singing, a real singer is not that common. Well, we can't escape a ballad (“Lone Cypress”), American rock tradition, obvious culture of the quartet. Fortunately, “Ready to Cry” gets the beast back on track with a title with an ancestral arrangement – backing vocals, break, chorus, final flight, everything to please the classic-rock fan.
But we prefer “Charlie” which will draw on the rockabilly structure while keeping this thick and current sound. Then “The Boxer” is to be stored near the “Dead Rats” mentioned, for our greatest pleasure. The last track will be acoustic: piano, folk guitar and scratchy voice. Both heard but effective thanks to a confident voice and a heavy rhythm section as we like, the compositions clearly stand out. We want to see that on stage.
