Damon Albarn, Grian Chatten and Kae Tempest premiere “Flags”

A track which reflects the collaborative nature of the recording process, with numerous improvised moments in the studio.

War Child Records launch today “Flags”the new single from the album HELP(2)which will be released next March 6. This collaboration of Damon Albarn, Grian Chatten (Fontaines DC) and Kae Tempestis a reflection on youth and identity. Produced by Albarn, James Ford, Marta Salogni and Toby L, “Flags” is a bold statement of resilience and solidarity.

Additionally, the song features an all-star lineup: Johnny Marr, Dave Okumu, Adrian Utley (Portishead), Seye Adelekan (Gorillaz), Femi Koleoso (Ezra Collective) and a 43-member children's choir. A second chorus includes Jarvis Cocker, Carl Barat (The Libertines), Declan McKenna, Marika Hackman, Rosa Walton, English Teacher, Black Country, New Road and Nadia Kadek.

Recording 'Flags' was a genuinely joyous two days, with a strong sense of purpose throughout. “I was particularly struck by the decision to employ children to do all the filming in the studio – it felt inspiring and directly reinforced the point we wanted to get across about communicating with them, by involving them in the process itself,” Damon Albarn explained in a press release.
