The new collection of watches from AP and Swatch is called Royal Pop

Audemars Piguet and Swatch have launched a collection of pocket watches.

Royal Pop, that's the name of the collection. The name Royal Pop recalls Audemars Piguet's iconic Royal Oak line. The “pop” refers to pop art, but also to the “Pop Swatch” watch line.

The limited edition collection includes eight pocket watches, in eight colors: white (Huit Blanc), pink (Otto Rosso), green (Green Eight), lime green/blue (Blaue Acht), navy blue/orange (Orenji Hachi), blue/light blue (Lan Ba), black/white (Ocho Negro), pink/yellow/aqua (Otg Roz). Each name combines the word “otto” with the corresponding color in eight languages: French, English, Italian, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, German and Romansh, one of Switzerland's least widely spoken languages. The reference to the eight does not end here. The design elements openly recall Audemars Piguet's Royal Oak: the octagonal case, the bezel with eight screws, the immediately recognizable geometry.

Each dial pays homage to the famous Petite Tapisserie, the iconic motif of the Royal Oak, while the 12-hour markers, coated in grade A Super‑LumiNova, maintain the same aesthetic language. A protective sapphire plate on the front and back brings the total thickness to 8.4 mm. The strap, in calfskin, integrates a bioceramic attachment that allows you to insert and remove the case with a simple click, hence the “Clack!” teasers. The Royal Pop measures 40 mm without the clip and 44.2 × 53.2 mm with the clip attached.

The release is scheduled for Saturday 16 May.
