The band presents a new preview of Hotel Usonahis next studio album.
A little less than a month after the premiere of Hotel Usonathe next album from Protomartyrthe band presents “Feed the Sewer”a new promotional single that arrives after the release of “Sounds We Cannot Hear”. Both songs are part of the nine songs on the album, which will be available this September 25 through Domino Records.
With “Feed the Sewer”the quartet questions the risks that technology and automation can bring, in addition to emphasizing the way in which these resources have been installed in everyday life and how society, in its search for comfort, can end up facing consequences that affect the way they live and relate to other people.
According to Joe Caseythe name of the song comes from a dialogue belonging to a film by Peter Greenaway. From there, Protomartyr develops a piece that mixes political concerns, literary references and personal conflicts through the vocalist’s lyrical, acidic and poetic style, resulting in a track with touches of post punk, accompanied by an instrumentation that he himself Casey Compare to the roar of a data center.
“Feed the Sewer” comes accompanied by a video directed by Andrew Theodore Balasiawho brought the idea of surveillance and isolation to a scenario where each room functions as a representation of the information that is collected about people through the applications they use and that require registration or authorization to function.
