A documentary film about Marracash “King Marracash” arrives at the cinema in May

“KING MARRACASH” will be released on May 25th at the cinema, the first docufilm that traces the career of Fabio Rizzo, aka Marracash. A project produced by GRØENLANDIA – in collaboration with DISNEY+ and in association with ADLER ENTERTAINMENT – enriched by the testimonies of those who have shared the journey.

The docufilm – in cinemas only on 25, 26 and 27 May – tells of a year of dreams and triumphs of the King of Italian rap, starting with an unprecedented undertaking in Italy, the first stadium tour for an Italian rapper, with its most prestigious stage (Milan, San Siro, 25 June 2025).

Directed by Pippo Mezzapesa, who also edited the story and screenplay together with Antonella W. Gaeta, Chiara Battistini and Shadi Cioffi, the documentary recounts the artist's journey, from scattered rhymes to the first album, exploring success and stasis, light and darkness, strength and fragility. In the wake of the stories that reveal the man behind the rock star, the camera focuses on Marracash, but also and above all on Fabio. The docufilm takes the viewer to Marracash's childhood places, among the Barona barracks, where he grew up, in the harsh heart of the outskirts of Milan, and then travels to Sicily with his family.

Through an intimate story spanning a year spent in extraordinary proximity with the artist, everyday life, friends, collaborators, awards, songs and love are shown. It is the closing of a circle after the trilogy of albums that definitively consecrated him as a leading artist on the Italian music scene.

The journey culminates with the repayment of the original debt: a Block Party, a real concert to give to his neighborhood. A necessary act and, at the same time, a form of profound redemption for those who come from the “periphery of everything”. Because, as will emerge from the film, it is possible to change an already written story and make it rap, but it is exceptional to become the absolute King of rap
