BTS at the AMAs 2026: the South Korean group will make a special appearance during the 52nd ceremony, broadcast on May 25 from Las Vegas, for its big TV comeback after four years of absence.

BTS' return to the AMAs is official: On Wednesday, CBS and Dick Clark Productions announced that the supergroup will make a special appearance at the 52nd American Music Awards, scheduled for Memorial Day.

This moment will mark a return with great fanfare for BTS, who made their debut on American television during the 2017 AMAs before returning in 2021 – the same evening where the group made history by winning the coveted Artist of the Year trophy. Eleven times awarded at the AMAs, the seven members have a new chance to enrich their list this year with three nominations: Artist of the Year, Song of the Summer and Best Male K-Pop Artist.

BTS at the AMAs: record comeback with the album Arirang

Last month, BTS kicked off their ambitious world tour Arirang in support of their sixth studio album, Arirangtheir first LP in nearly four years, after all seven members completed their mandatory military service in South Korea. The album launched directly to first place on the Billboard 200 with record sales for a first week: 641,000 copies sold, including 532,000 in pure sales — the best start for a group since Billboard began including streaming in its counts in 2014.

The album's lead single, “Swim,” reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and spent four weeks at the top of the Billboard Global 200. This summer, the group will also co-headline the first-ever halftime show of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Finals, alongside Shakira and Madonna, in July.

Queen Latifah in charge, Taylor Swift leads the nominations

The American Music Awards ceremony will begin on May 25 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and will be broadcast live from 8 p.m. ET on Paramount+ and CBS – or 2 a.m. in France on the night of May 25 to 26. Queen Latifah, who presented the ceremony thirty years ago, will take over the reins. Taylor Swift leads the awards race with eight nominations, including Artist of the Year, Album of the Year and Song of the Year. There showgirl is closely followed by Sabrina Carpenter, Morgan Wallen, Olivia Dean and Sombr, who each have seven nominations.
