In the space of a few years, The Bausa have carved out an increasingly recognizable position for themselves in the new Norwegian scene, going from an emerging project to a name already firmly established on the international circuit.

The debut in 2021 and the affirmation of 2023 with Turné mark the first steps of a constantly growing trajectory.

Since then their catalog has moved between rankings and digital dynamics, up to the case of Magnetic, song that has exceeded 55 million streams and found viral diffusion on TikTok, consolidating their visibility outside the Scandinavian borders and making it one of the musical phenomena of this summer.

Alongside the music, The Bausa have built a precise aesthetic, which intertwines vintage suggestions and references to a dandy elegance reinterpreted in a contemporary key.

A dimension that also returns in the definition of their sound, today identified as “Scandi-house”, a personal synthesis between pop writing and club culture.

We met them in a boiling Milan to retrace this evolution and understand the next directions.

THE INTERVIEW

Before the interview, I went back in time and found one of your first songs dated 2023 which was titled “Fratelli”. Where did this song with such an Italian title come from?

It's a pretty funny story. In Norway there is a very strong tradition linked to groups of graduating students. Every year students organize crews and parties and often ask artists to create a song dedicated to their group. Brothers it was born exactly like this: the group was called “Fratelli” and asked us to write a piece for them.

By the way, it's incredible that you found that song. Really, you did an amazing research job!

From Brothers Today your sound has changed a lot. How would you describe this evolution?

Very, very much. At first we mainly wrote music intended for these Norwegian student parties. It's a very particular world, because that scene can include any genre: hip hop, house, drum and bass.

This experience has made us extremely versatile. Subsequently we got closer and closer to hip hop and pop, while today the project is moving towards dance music.

We can define it as “Scandi house”: a very Nordic, melodic, emotional sound but at the same time designed for the dancefloor.

Besides the music, you have a very recognizable image. There is a strong aesthetic component in your project, almost like a modern dandy. How important is style?

It matters a lot. We feel that our music has a natural elegance and we try to reflect this in the way we present ourselves.

We like to dress elegantly and take great care of the visual aspect of the project. We take a lot of inspiration from Italy, especially the vintage Italian aesthetic. It's something that fascinates us a lot.

Speaking of Italy, do you listen to Italian music?

Absolutely yes. Sometimes it's not even that simple to understand which country certain artists come from, but certainly one of our references is Pino D'Angiò.

He was a legend. And we're not just talking about the music: his style also inspired us a lot. He had an incredible elegance, he was really cool.

We close with an extra-musical question. I bet on Norway as the winner of the World Cup. Do you agree?

Absolutely yes! We believe it too. (they laugh)

If this happens, you will probably get rich from the bet!

Magnetic it's definitely one of the soundtracks of the summer.

It really means a lot to hear that.

See you then in Italy in November.

Absolutely. We can't wait to play live in Italy. See you under the stage
