Kate Nash is back with Cailinhis next album that will arrive on January 22, 2027 under Kill Rock Stars and will be composed of 12 songs. The announcement comes accompanied by the premiere of “Spilt Milk”a new preview of the material that adds to “Famine”a topic presented at the beginning of the year.
According to the artist, “Spilt Milk” It is inspired by the abortion laws in Ireland, before the repeal of the Eighth Amendment in 2018, and is based on the idea of the lack of control over one’s own body and what happens when women’s voices are ignored. Furthermore, its launch comes at a time when rights related to sexual and reproductive health continue to be debated in the United States.
The song is accompanied by a video directed by Tom Beardin which we appreciate Nash interpret the theme in a black and white production that reinforces the essence of “Spilt Milk”. This single reveals the direction of an album that took shape over 11 years, which presents a personal exploration of the singer’s relationship with Ireland, a country that was important during her first approaches to music.
Cailin will address topics such as family, forgiveness, love, colonialism, inequality, religion and internalized shame, with a proposal that seeks to unite traditional Celtic instrumentation with punk, along with touches of hip-hop and its characteristic pop style.
